Behavior

Behavior, specifically human behavior, is one of the subject matter of Psychology, along with mental processes. It refers to any overt action or movement that is directly observable and measurable. Some examples of behaviors that are being studied in Psychology are: aggression, overeating (obesity), and the law of effect.

Psychologists are also interested at how people attempt to explain their own behaviors (e.g., Overjustification Effect) and the behavior of other people (Fundamental Attribution Error).

The study of behavior began with John B. Watson, when he developed Behaviorism as a school of Psychology in the early 20th century. Before, interest in Psychology was limited to research on private conscious experiences.
